Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Advanced Medical Imaging program prepares graduates to serve in the medical imaging field in a variety of career opportunities that have a predicted faster than average job growth in the region.

The Bachelor of Science in Advanced Medical Imaging program is offered to provide post-primary pathways to certified imaging individuals interested in earning a bachelor’s degree along with their modality of choice, providing the opportunity for healthcare individuals to advance their degrees and careers. The program was intentionally designed to allow for flexibility for students to select courses that meet both their personal and professional goals. Students can participate in clinical education within an advanced medical imaging setting as a part of the curriculum, or students already working within an advanced medical imaging setting may choose to enroll in health services courses in place of clinical education.

Students will build upon their current experience in healthcare to develop skills in new modalities and gain a broader understanding of the multifaceted healthcare environment. Credits from the associate degree are applied to the 120-credit hour requirement for a bachelor’s degree. In addition to completing general education requirements, students will complete 27 hours of core courses in advanced medical imaging. Students will select a modality in their area of interest and work on their degree while working in their primary field. A maximum of 50 credit hours from the associate degree professional courses may be applied to the Bachelor of Science in Advanced Medical Imaging degree, in addition to transferable general education courses.

The modality options are:

  • Computed Tomography
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging
  • Mammography
  • Bone Densitometry
  • Cardiac Interventional Radiography
  • Vascular Interventional Radiography
