Undergraduate Catalog: 2019-20

Philosophy BA

Philosophy is one of the most eminently practical majors one can study.  It is also one of the most personally and intellectually satisfying.  The study of philosophy hones the scientific mind, deepens religious faith, augments skills and competencies, and generally prepares one to live an intentional life of purpose and significance.

At the University of Saint Francis our philosophy curriculum has been designed with a clear and grounded vision, providing the student with a solid foundation and formation in the venerable and enduring Philosophical Tradition.  The education we offer not only serves a student for a lifetime, it also helps a student learn how to have a life worth living.

Nationally, across all colleges and universities, philosophy majors are consistently among the top achievers on entrance exams for medical schools, law schools, and graduate schools, and they are often among the most versatile creators, artists, theologians, and scientists.  That’s not an accident or a coincidence.  That’s the power of the study of philosophy.
