EDUC 678 - ELA and Social Studies Methods for Elementary Education


English Language Arts and Social Studies Methods for Elementary Education is designed to prepare teacher candidates to effectively teach English Language Arts and Social Studies to diverse populations of students. The course has a two-fold focus: (1) refine understanding of academic disciplines connected to the English Language Arts and Social Studies and (2) demonstrate the ability to provide engaging, accurate, and quality content-specific instruction to students. With national and State of Indiana academic standards as points of reference, this course develops methods of presentation, instructional techniques, assessment tools, and the utilization of technology aligned to the content. Students develop standards based differentiated lessons, units, and assessments suitable for K-6 grade students. Field work may be required.
