NURS 223 - Medical-Surgical Nursing II


This course focuses on learning injury/disease processes and the appropriate nursing measures for the provision of nursing care for adults, geriatric clients and their families who are experiencing altered health in the nutritional-metabolic, elimination, and activity-exercise health patterns. Students continue to learn about their role as provider of care. Emphasis is placed on identifying client learning needs and providing appropriate teaching. Students continue to expand their knowledge of communication principles as they establish helping relationships with clients and collaborative relationships with members of the health care team. (Theory 3 hours)
