NURS 224 - Clinical: Medical-Surgical Nursing II This course focuses on applying the nursing process as a critical thinking framework for identifying and meeting the needs of adults, geriatric clients and their families whose problems are in the nutritional-metabolic, elimination, and activity-exercise functional health patterns. Students assess learning needs of clients and plan appropriate teaching. They apply communication principles to establish and maintain helping relationships with clients and families and to work collaboratively with health team members. Students continue to function in the provider of care role and begin to develop the skills of the manager of care role. Clinical practice occurs in structured acute care settings and in simulation and computer laboratories. (Clinical 9 hours)
