NURS 346 - Introduction to Perioperative Nursing


This course provides an introduction to perioperative nursing. The clinical portion includes preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative experiences with a focus on the intraoperative phase. The theory portion of the course includes information necessary to provide safe, professional and accountable patient care in all aspects of perioperative nursing. Topics include introduction to the perioperative role, prevention of infection, prevention of injury, wound management, workplace safety, and anesthesia and medication safety.

Credit Hours: 3
Prerequisite: NURS 161  & NURS 162  OR NURS 303  & NURS 304 , Non-Degree seeking current RN License
