NURS 487 - Professional Nursing Synthesis of knowledge from core nursing courses and professional nursing practice. Provides opportunity for students to examine roles and issues of the professional nurse in the context of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The roles of leader, change agent, research consumer, client advocate, teacher and coordinator of care along with the concepts of caring, communication, collaboration, and accountability are explored within the context of a health care system that attempts to meet the demands of an increasingly technological and diverse world. Provides a format for student development of a portfolio to synthesize and validate attainment of program outcomes and serve as a model for continued professional growth. (Theory 2 hours)
