SOCI 245 - Health in the Community This course introduces students to current issues in health and wellness in American and global communities. The course focuses on the influence that the community has on health care seeking behaviors, well care, disability, the health and wellness industry, and the experience of illness. The course focuses on the struggles of the poor and needy in obtaining healthcare and the barriers to accessing health and wellness. The course includes an applied research project in which students will draw on their professional experience to address a need for healthcare among the poor in their local community. Students will gain experience in formal project management techniques in planning, implementing, monitoring, and concluding their applied research project.
