NURS 106 - Fundamental Nursing Skills & Concepts I

Part of a two-course sequence, this initial course
is designed to assist beginning nursing students
in acquiring a foundation of basic nursing theory
and a beginning development of nursing clinical
skills. Philosophical concepts will focus on the
human experience such as caring as the essence of
nursing, the uniqueness of each client, the need
to include a supportive network of health care
providers, and the accountability that nurses have
for their actions and clinical decisions.
Asepsis, infection control, safety and end-of-life
care is presented. The nursing process will be
introduced along with documentation, therapeutic
communication, time management and successful work
practices.  Electronic documentation will be
taught throughout the curriculum during clinical
and simulation experiences.
