NURS 203 - Medical Surgical Adult Health & Illness I This course focuses on basic concepts common to
the promotion of health in a client. Concepts of
fluids & electrolyte balance, pain management,
infection, perioperative care, cancer care and
care for the hospitalized client are included.
Focus then will be placed on clients with
disorders of the respiratory,
hematopoietic/lymphatic, immune, sensory,
gastrointestinal, breast and reproductive,
urinary/renal, and integumentary systems.
Additional pathologies include hypertension and
diabetes. Measures to diagnose, treat and provide
nursing care and management are presented. The
foundations of nursing process will be implemented
by students creating care plans for patient care,
completing patient care activities during
individualized clinical experiences, and
participating in pre/post conferences.
