NURS 438 - Community Focused Professional Nursing


Focuses on the role of the professional nurse as an advocate in health promotion and disease prevention for individuals, aggregates and communities through primary, secondary and tertiary nursing initiatives. Integrates evidence-based practice, community health nursing models, systematic health status assessment, and resource utilization. Emphasizes diversity of community health settings, identification of vulnerable populations, public health nursing issues, and methods for effective communication among health team members. Analysis of the health care delivery system includes the impact of legal, social, economic, cultural and global influences on the health of communities.

Prerequisite: NURS 409  & NURS 400
