Program Overview
USF’s Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology program is a rigorous, fast-paced 3+1 curriculum. Students take general education and the core biology curriculum at USF for three years. If accepted into the program, the fourth year is an intensive curriculum at a regional healthcare facility receiving direct, on-site, hands-on experience in a medical laboratory. The clinical training portion earns 34 credit hours from various areas: Introduction to Medical Laboratory, Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing, Research, Education and Management, Urinalysis and Body Fluids, Chemistry, Immunology, Hematology, Coagulation and Homeostasis, Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine (Blood Bank), Microbiology and Parasitology, and Clinical Laboratory Practicum.

Degree Requirements
The B.S. in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology degree requires 130 credit hours:
- 36-37 credit hours of Franciscan Core general education courses
- 56-58 credit hours of prescribed courses in biology, chemistry, physics, math, and management
- 34 credit hours of clinical training.
