The Pathway to Educator Preparation Program is a dual-credit program between Bishop Luers High School and the University of Saint Francis, both located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This non-degree program allows Bishop Luers High School students the opportunity to enroll in a dual credit and experiential learning program leading to a Paraprofessional Certification.
To Apply:
Bishop Luers High School students
1. must be a junior or senior student.
2. must have a 2.5 GPA.
3. must maintain a “C” or better in each University of Saint Francis course to remain in the program.
4. must apply and be admitted to SF as UGRD NON-DEGREE.
Program Requirements:
1. Three dual credit courses at SF.
a. EDUC-105: Foundational Theories for Learner Success
b. EDUC-108: Introduction to Teacher Education
c. SPED-137: Foundations in Exceptionalities
2. A minimum of 80 hours of clinical field experience.
3. Take the Indiana Paraprofessional Certification Exam.
Progression:
Upon completion of this program, Bishop Luers student can apply 9 credit hours of course work towards the following bachelor’s degrees:
Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education
Bachelor of Science in Special Education
Bachelor o Arts in Educational Studies
Bachelor of Science Visual Arts Education
