Paramedic (Advanced EMT) Certificate

This program prepares students for a dynamic and rewarding career in emergency medical services. Designed for individuals with EMS certifications  seeking to become licensed paramedics, this intensive program combines academic instruction with hands-on clinical and field experience to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to provide advanced pre-hospital care.

Learning Outcomes:


1.    Perform comprehensive patient assessments and formulate appropriate treatment plans for patients of all ages across a wide range of medical and traumatic emergencies.
2.    Demonstrate proficiency in advanced life support (ALS) procedures, including airway management, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, intravenous access, and medication administration.
3.    Apply critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills in high-stress, pre-hospital environments to prioritize care and manage complex emergency situations effectively.
4.    Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare team members, and public safety personnel using clear, compassionate, and professional language.
5.    Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team, demonstrating leadership, accountability, and adherence to ethical and legal standards in emergency medical care.
6.    Document patient care accurately and efficiently, using appropriate medical terminology and electronic or written reporting formats consistent with EMS protocols.
7.    Integrate principles of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology into the assessment and management of patient conditions.
8.    Operate safely and effectively in the EMS environment, including patient transportation, scene management, and use of emergency equipment.
9.    Exhibit cultural competence and empathy in providing care to diverse populations in a variety of settings.
10.    Demonstrate preparedness for certification and licensure, including successful completion of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic exam.
