Medical Assistant

This one-year certificate program is designed to prepare students to be a Medical Assistant in a a variety of settings. Medical Assistants are trained in both clinical and administrative skills. Medical Assistants assist healthcare providers in meeting the needs of patients through a combination of knowledge and skills. They may also operate specialized equipment such as spirometers, nebulizers, and EKG machines.  

Office administration duties may include patient scheduling, client/insurance billing, preparing prior authorizations and data entry. The Medical Assistant Program is comprised of three semesters which includes a 16-week clinical externship. This program is a combination of online and on ground clinical courses and experiences.  Successful completion of the program will allow the student to be eligible to take a national Medical Assistant certification exam.
