Central Service Technician

The Central Service Technician is a 16-week noncredit coursework, consisting of taking SURG 105 and SURG 110. The courses are designed to prepare students to perform as a Central Service Technician in a hospital setting.  The course content includes Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification review along with clinical practice. Students will spend time in the clinical setting gaining knowledge and hands on experience in the areas of Decontamination, Preparing and Packaging of Instruments, Sterilization and Disinfection, Storage and Distribution, Quality Assurance Processes and Equipment.  Successful completion of the clinical course (SURG 110) will allow students to be eligible to sit for the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Certification Exam.
