Applied Science in Health Science, A.A.S.

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Academic Programs

This program is designed to support students who are exploring interdisciplinary careers in health sciences and those who already hold a certificate/license and aspire to additional career and higher education opportunities. Students will select between three concentrations in interdisciplinary healthcare, paramedic medicine, and surgical technology.

The program provides one year of general education to offer opportunities for EMS Academy graduates to complete an associate degree.

The paramedic and surgical technology completion concentration tracks provide an associate-level degree completion for students who are enrolled in or who have graduated from paramedic or surgical technology training programs. The AAS in Health Science does not confer eligibility to be certified or licensed. The student must come with or be concurrently completing a paramedic/surgical technology certificate program outside of USF.

The interdisciplinary healthcare concentration track provides an associate-level degree that students can fulfill while working on admission criteria for an additional healthcare major and offers coursework and elective hours to expose them to healthcare careers and complete certificate programs within healthcare such as phlebotomy or central sterile processing.
