Criminal Justice and Criminology, B.A.

The Criminal Justice and Criminology program is a career-focused degree with a strong liberal arts foundation. The core focuses on criminal justice, legal studies and criminology, and incorporates study in the area of psychology. The generous number of electives also allows students to pursue a double major or minor in a complimentary field.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon graduation with a degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology, USF students will demonstrate:

• A basic understanding of the major themes, subfields, and persistent questions in the study of criminal justice and criminology.
• Knowledge of state and federal statutes and describe how crime affects victims and society.

Additionally, students graduating with the BA will demonstrate:

• The ability to identify and evaluate research in the field of Criminal Justice and Criminology
• The ability to present their research in a clear and concise manner.

Degree Requirements

The B.A. in Criminal Justice and Criminology degree requires 120 credit hours:

• 36-37 credit hours of Franciscan core courses
• 33 credit hours in Criminal Justice
• 9 credit hours in Criminology
• 6 credit hours in Sociology
• 6 credit hours in Psychology
• 3 credit hours in Social Work
• elective courses as needed
