The Bachelor of Science in Health Services program prepares graduates to serve in management roles in today’s dynamic health services delivery system Graduates may also choose roles in the medical product sales industry, and lead in community health initiatives
The Bachelor of Science in Health Services degree program is offered to associate degree graduates of health-related disciplines, and those that hold or are pursuing a bachelor’s degree, providing the opportunity for healthcare professionals to advance their degrees and careers. Students build upon their current experience in healthcare to develop skills in health service administration and gain a broader understanding of the complex healthcare environment. Credits from the associate and bachelor’s degree are applied to the 120 credit hour requirement for a bachelor’s degree. In addition to completion of general education requirements, students complete 27 hours of core courses in health services and choose from one of three concentrations (management, sales and application or community health). Students select a practicum in their area of interest and help design individualized goals.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Health Services Program are prepared to serve in professional roles within a dynamic health services delivery system. Graduates will demonstrate:
- An understanding of the principles, concepts and processes of health services administration.
- An understanding of the multifaceted roles of health care professionals in an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary environment.
- An understanding of the social, economic, political and professional forces that shape the health care delivery system.
- Effective and appropriate communication skills in health services administration and the delivery of health care.
- An understanding of legal and ethical implications in health care delivery.
- Integration of skills, knowledge and practice experiences to further advance professional growth and career mobility.
- Utilization of principles of research and inquiry to investigate problems, demonstrate outcomes, and apply findings to professional practice.
- Skill in assessing needs, developing priorities and implementing effective solutions using interdisciplinary approaches in health care practice and administration.
- Participation in community, university and professional activities.
Degree Requirements
The Bachelor of Science in Health Services degree requires a minimum of 120 credit hours:
- 15 credit hours of Health Services Core (Note: A grade of “C” or better is required in all HEAS courses)
- Healthcare Core: 38-48 credit hours from AS degree in healthcare discipline
- 36-37 credit hours of general education
- Concentration Core- Choose from one concentration 12-15 credit hours
- Electives as needed
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.3

Admissions Requirements
The applicant must hold an associate degree or bachelor degree in a health-related discipline from a regionally accredited college or university. For acceptance to the Bachelor of Science in Health Services degree program, the applicant must:
1. Meet one of the following criteria:
- Possess an active license or certification in a healthcare discipline
- Hold an associate degree from an accredited program in a healthcare discipline
- Hold a bachelor degree from an accredited program in a healthcare related discipline (biology, chemistry)
- Be currently enrolled in an associate degree program or bachelor degree program in a healthcare related discipline at the University of Saint Francis
2. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale in college coursework. Applicants with a professional certificate or diploma must meet associate degree requirements in their healthcare discipline.
