Honors Program

Named after John Duns Scotus, the Scottish theologian and philosopher who, along with St. Bonaventure, established the Franciscan Intellectual Tradition, the Honors Program at USF offers an intellectually challenging and highly rewarding experience for undergraduates of all disciplines. After a two-semester introduction to the western intellectual tradition, students have the opportunity to develop independent projects guided by faculty within their major.

Honors Program

  • Combines a broad foundation in great books and great ideas with one-on-one work with faculty in a student’s major
  • Encourages leadership and service to the community
  • Forms a vibrant community of students

Not to be confused with being on the Dean’s List or graduating “with honors,” the Honors Program is for students who want to take their USF experience to the highest level.

Honors students wear an Honors medallion at commencement, and successful completion of the JDSHP is noted on their transcripts. Admission to the Honors Program is competitive.
