EDUC 677 - Math and Science Methods for Elementary Education


Math and Science Methods for Elementary Education is designed to prepare teacher candidates to effectively teach Mathematics and Science to diverse populations of students. The course has a two-fold focus: (1) refine teacher candidates’ understanding of fundamental concepts and processes of mathematics and science and (2) demonstrate the ability to provide engaging, accurate and quality content-specific instruction to students. With national and State of Indiana academic standards as points of reference, this course develops methods of presentation, instructional techniques, assessment tools, and the utilization of technology aligned to the content. Students develop inquiry lessons, units, and assessments suitable for instructing Mathematics and Science to K-6 grade students. Field work may be required.
